Here we go again

Well I have started again.... I have decided that a heart attack doesn't sound like a good thing for my kids or family to have to deal with.

So....this week I have made it to the gym and/or walked each day. I feel much better afterward, but I have to be honest. The hip and knee are killing me. I had to shorten my workout on Monday because I thought I was going to scream in pain from the hip. I know--it's a catch 22. The pain is in part caused by the weight gain. The knee and hip pain are on the right side, so I know that I am definitely favoring the knee by putting undue stress on the hip.

I am really trying to eat in small portions and so far I have been able to do it okay.

I'm really disgusted with myself because I have gained all of the weight I had lost six years ago. It's taken me six years to gain it all back, so I know it won't be gone overnight.

I just have to get myself to the gym. Every day.

lost three this week!!

I've lost 3 more pounds this week, even with Valentine's Day and the four chocolate dipped strawberries and the chocolates I ate! :)

I've also lost in inches (total of 3 inches since last week when I started measuring) which is a plus.

It's been pretty easy -- UNTIL TODAY! I was working with a teacher, and another teacher came in to see if we wanted anything from Five Guys--OF COURSE I DID!! BUT I didn't eat it. Instead, I came home and ate some of the homemade chicken soup I made last night for dinner...I just keep telling myself, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels..."

We are going to the Outback tonight so I have planned out my day. Since the weather is a bit nicer, I should be able to get at least a 45 min walk in. I didn't get to exercise yesterday since I didn't even get home until after 7 PM.

2/14/11

This weekend was so-so. I went over by a few points, but I did exercise every day since last Wednesday. I feel good about that. I will walk later today, too. I'm cleaning at home today and organizing.

For those of you who are following me, I really appreciate your support! It keeps me accountable. :)

Weight Tracker

Lost 4 lbs this week!
Just started measuring so I will update that next week. Honestly, I was hoping for 5 lbs, but 4 is better than none. I just have to stick with it. Like Mom said, it didn't get there overnight, I won't be able to get it off overnight either.

2/18/11
Lost 3 more pounds this week and 3 inches total.

2/20/11
I decided to weigh myself today because of eating out on Friday night and last night. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had lost 2 more pounds! :)

2/8/11

Today has been very easy. I had coffee for breakfast (my standard) and a great wrap for lunch. The wrap and strawberries for lunch were only 6 points. I have 36 bonus points left for the week, which ends tomorrow. Of course, I won't use them all but it is good to know that I am staying within my limits.

2/7/11

Today has been okay so far. I'm excited to learn that the lemon caper chicken and green bean casserole that I am making is only 6 points! Yay!

We are celebrating Braxton's birthday tonight. He loves lemon caper chicken and green bean casserole. I have a little chocolate cake for him, too.

Super Bowl was Super!

I made it!! I wasn't even tempted to eat all of that food. In fact, it kind of made me sick to think of how many fat grams and calories were on that table! I did enjoy the veggie tray and turkey sub. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be.

I am hopeful that I can get to the gym at least three times during this week. It's hard when we have the kids, though, because I have to get home, fix their dinner, etc....and then it's bed time. I am hoping that I can go during my lunch hour tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday. Sat and Sun are easy because I can go anytime. It's the week days that worry me...I wish I had a more flexible schedule, but I am booked solid during the week this week and next.

And we did win $50 in the pool! Yay!! :)

Super Bowl Sunday--a Test!

Today is going to be a test because we are going to a Super Bowl party with Lynn and the twins. This day will be a challenge for two reasons; one is that this is the first Super Bowl for Lynn without Kyle in 23 years. The party is the one that they always hosted at their home because Kyle wanted Lynn to be there. It will be difficult for her; this is also the first party/big activity with the group that they always hung out with. We are going to support her.

The other reason this will be a challenge is that there will be a lot of delicious, fattening foods at the party. We are bringing Chas' wings, so that won't be bad for me. He grills them and then just tosses them with Wingers sauce, which isn't fattening. I'll plan to load up on the carrots and celery. :)

I'm sore from yesterday. I definitely feel that this is good for me, because I slept through the entire night without waking up until 6:30. That's a biggie for me. That's how I can tell if I am getting enough exercise or not. After yesterday's workout, I felt really good.

We are still working on moving the boxes, so that also counts as Activity points earned. Basically, anything I do that isn't sitting around is considered some type of Activity point.

I have several friends who are using HCG. I know it works for a lot of people, but I really don't think it would work for me. I applaud anyone who can only eat 500 calories per day and stick with it for six weeks. I don't know about the long-term effects of HCG, but I think it is good for those people out there who can do it. I just don't think I am one of those people.

I know that if I stick to it, I will lose, because that is how I lost before. I just quit eating junk. I eat only healthy portions. I exercise. It's not rocket science, it's just that I have to remember that "nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

Today's thoughts

So far, this week has been ok. I am very frustrated with myself because I have gained all of this weight back! It is SO easy to gain it and SO difficult to lose it.

I am hoping that by blogging my trials and triumphs, I might do better with this long-term.

Today was a good day. Yesterday was okay, but with the new PointsPlus program from Weight Watchers that I am doing, it's different and I have had some surprises! For example, a glass of wine used to be 2 points, but with the new program, it's 4 points. So that is good information for me.

Another good thing is that almost all of the restaurants that I like to go to have their nutrition info posted so I can easily figure out the points.

I know that just knowing and entering everything that I put in my mouth along with exercising at least 5 times per week will be the key.

I know this journey won't be easy or short, but I know that I will feel better and certainly be much healthier. I want to set a good example for my kids, and live to see my grandchildren grow up. That's very important to me. I need to "walk the talk." That's why I chose this blog template!
